01. CLIMATE CHANGE

UNICEF CLIMATE DISASTER – PLEASE WATCH IN 4K

Right now, climate change is causing extreme weather events to increase in frequency and ferocity and children will bear the greatest impact

The client and I wanted a handmade feel to this animation. I gave particular attention to the illustration process and creating all of the textures. I was also required to create this in 16×9 (TV shape), 1×1 (square) and 9×16 (mobile phone) ratios. Once again it’s been an honor to work for Unicef and to create something about a subject matter I feel…we all feel very strongly about.

02. VACCINE INDEPENDENCE INITIATIVE

VII: saving lives everyday

This innovative finance mechanism managed by UNICEF keeps health programmes working by bridging short term cash flow delays. This makes sure life-saving vaccines and other health supplies continue reaching children. Most years the VII family of investors makes it possible for UNICEF to mobilise around $250 million of financing… that’s a lot of kids reached! And an amazing social return.

The client came with a script and requested an animation that was not ‘graphic’ or corporate’. I created the child’s faces and handmade silkscreen treatment. This colourful friendly design contrasted well with the cinematic, serious score and serious message. It was a privilege and an honour to work for such a prestigious company that literally saves lives everyday.

03. The cost of living is on the rise

Price rises impacting children in the horn of Africa

Globally, the cost of living is on the rise. The war in Ukraine is exacerbating spiralling global food and fuel prices. This means families are struggling to afford basic items like food, beverages, and everyday supplies. For children and families in the Horn of Africa who are affected by the worst drought in 40 years, the cost of living can cost them their lives.

Nearly two million children in Ethiopia, Somalia and Kenya are threatened by severe malnutrition. The cost of Ready-To-Use Therapeutic food or RUTF, a life-saving treatment, has soared by 16%. This means that for the same amount of RUTF needed for children in the region– UNICEF now needs an extra $12M. That’s a lot! UNICEF provides nearly 80% of the world’s RUTF supply.

If we don’t act now, less children will have a chance to survive. UNICEF needs your support! Together we can ensure every child suffering from severe malnutrition receives life saving treatment now.

I used photoshop paint brushes to digitally illustrate this animation. This animation demonstrates my versatility when choosing the correct techniques for the subject matter.
